Is Textbroker a Scam? – I Lost $90 for Almost Nothing But…

Textbroker Review 2020 - Update

My original Textbroker review analyzed Textbroker more from the client's perspective.

Now I created an updated review where I analyze Textbroker more from the writers perspective.

If you want to make money online as a writer, I highly recommend taking a look at my video below because I walk you through the process how you can make it.

I am myself making a big money online as a writer by following this 4-step process. I have also helped 1,000's of other people to do the same.

If I can do it, you can do it! 🙂

Is Textbroker a scam or a reliable website for earning money or outsourcing your content writing? If you are looking for an honest review, you have come to the right place.

Textbroker has a reputation as a high-quality content provider but my experience has been a little bit different. I will explain further why. You’ll also get the idea of how much you could potentially earn on their website as a writer.

I hope you enjoy my review. If you have still any questions after reading it, don’t hesitate to ask in the comments below and I’ll reply you personally.

Textbroker Review

Name: Textbroker

Founded: In 2008 in Germany by Jan Becker-Fochler. Currently Headquarters in Las Vegas and New York.

Field: Content Outsourcing / Freelance Writing

Short Review: Based on my and other people’s experiences Textbroker is a safe and a reliable website. Their company has been around already for almost 10 years and it has a good reputation. Prices for content are relatively high and in my opinion, the quality doesn’t always match the price.

If you want to outsource your content writing, I would rather recommend HireWriters or iWriter.

On the other hand, if your goal is to make more money with your blog/website or start earning money from 0, I recommend taking a look at this step-by-step training. It has helped me to earn a living online even without any former experience.

What Is Textbroker?

Textbroker is a website that allows you to

  1. Earn money as a freelance writer
  2. Outsource your content writing
  3. Resell content to your clients. (This means that your client buys you the content and you buy it from Textbroker.)

I have used this website for buying articles to my website but you can also earn money as a freelance writer.

In this review, I’ll explain what kind of results I received by buying content on Textbroker and I’ll explain whether it was worth it or not. I’ll also show how much you could earn as a writer.

If you prefer getting the information in the video form, I recommend watching the following video that I just uploaded on YouTube. I’ll show you there also how it looks inside Textbroker’s member area and what kind of results I got.

How Does Textbroker Work for Clients?

I signed up on Textbroker as a client because I want to get more content for my website.

More content => More Rankings on Google => More Traffic => More Passive Income

The process of ordering articles on their website is pretty simple. As I showed in the video, you just click “Create New Order!” and then describe for your writer what kind of text do you need. You can also define how fast the writer needs to deliver the content. You will pay according to writer’s level that you choose.

There are 4 levels: 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-star writers. 5-star writers are extremely expensive and I haven’t used them myself. Most orders from clients are for 3-star writers.

You can also order multiple articles at the same time or submit a whole project. The choice is yours and the platform is quite flexible in that sense.

is textbroker a scam

Ordering content is easy and simple. Textbroker also provides you tips what you need to define when ordering articles.

My Results of Buying Articles on Textbroker

I took a little test and bought 4 articles for around $90 in total. Then I posted those articles on my website (after proofreading and editing) and I followed how much traffic they get. I ordered and published those articles 2-3 months ago.

My main source of traffic is Google search and I wanted to get ranked with those texts on Google as well. However, none of them didn’t rank well. They are all +1,500-word comprehensive reviews that should normally get ranked and drive traffic.

During the last 90 days I have received only around 20-25 visitors from Google with those articles. It means that I have paid $3,6-$4,5 per each visitor + my own work that I needed to put in to order, proofread, edit and publish those texts.

We can clearly see that it hasn’t been worth it so far. The situation can change in the long run if the rankings move up. That usually happens when my site keeps on getting more authority on Google. Still, first results haven’t been very promising. I have probably driven much more traffic with those articles if I had written them all by myself.

How to Make Money on Textbroker as a Writer?

First of all, you need to be a native speaker to get approved as a writer. For example, I can’t work for them as a writer for English texts because my native language is Finnish. They have also clients in other languages than English which means that you can get some projects in German, French, Spanish or some other languages if that’s your native language.

So, if you are a native speaker, you can sign up and create a profile. Then you are ready to start working for them.

In the beginning, your earnings will be quite low because your star rating isn’t very high. Based on other people’s experiences your earnings will be around $4-5 per hour. Of course, depending on how fast you can write new content.

You can check out your potential earnings on Textbroker website with their calculator.

is textbroker a scam

Textbroker income calculator.

How many words could you write per day? World-famous writer Jack London writes 1,500-2,000 words per day and Stephen King writes minimum 2,000 words per day. My record is a little bit over 5,000 words per day.

I would say that if you are an experienced writer and you work diligently 8 hours without distractions, you can make 3,000 words in a day. However, it depends also on how much research you need to do. Some articles are faster than others.

If you have a 3-star rating, you would earn $35 for writing 3,500 words. We can quickly calculate that it’s way below the minimum salary in the U.S. In order to beat the minimum salary, you need to become a 5-star writer. Then your hourly rate will be quite good. However, most clients don’t want to buy 5-star articles because they are expensive so you won’t have many texts available.

Textbroker Pricing – Quite Expensive

The following picture shows how much does it cost to buy articles on Textbroker.

is textbroker a scam

For example, 1,000 word-article with 3-star writer costs $18. 500-word article with 4-star writer costs $12.

Then if you want to order content directly from their writers or take a team order, the price starts at 2,4 cents/word.

If you are a writer, you might be thinking, “Hey! If they really pay so well, why wouldn’t I work as a writer for them?” But you need to notice that they don’t pay so well for writers. Textbroker takes a big fee in between. Writer earns only:

  • 2-star writer: 0,7 cents per word
  • 3-star writer: 1,0 cent per word
  • 4-star writer: 1,4 cents per word
  • 5-star writer: 5,0 cents per word

You can see that the Textbroker fee is quite high (47% for 2-star writers). It would be more profitable to contact with small business owners directly.

Textbroker Reviews & Complaints

I wanted to have a look what kind of experiences other users have with Textbroker. Many writers like its flexibility. You can work whenever you want, study interesting subjects and get paid for writing about them.

On the other hand, they admitted that you can’t really earn good money on Textbroker unless you are a 5-star writer. I think that the only way to make a living through Textbroker is to be a U.S. citizen but live in a cheap country like Mexico or in Southeast Asia where your costs are low. Otherwise, their website works as a hobby/extra income for you.

Members were happy with Textbroker support because it replies all requests within 24 hours. My experience is also positive because they have answered all my requests quickly in a friendly way.

Some writers complained about complicated clients. Even though they are ordering content from 2- or 3-star writers, the requirements are very specific and tough. From client’s perspective, I really understand why it is so. The price for 2-3-star writers is so high that the content should have already a good quality.

Achieving a 5-star rating can also be challenging if your client doesn’t like your text. Somebody gives you a low rating (2 stars) for your article and your overall rating drops immediately.

is textbroker a scam

Texbroker reviews on one website.

Textbroker vs iWriter vs HireWriters

I have used all these three services (and a few others) for buying content to my websites. The prices on iWriter and HireWriters are pretty similar but Textbroker is like 3-4 times more expensive.

In my experience, HireWriters has the best price/quality ratio. However, I also enjoy iWriter because you can fire the writer immediately if you don’t like his content. All of these websites give a 100% satisfaction guarantee but it’s probably easiest to execute on the iWriter platform.

Based on my experience Textbroker loses the competition between these 3 websites. If you are a freelance writer and want to earn money for writing, I recommend that you sign up to all of them and stick to the best one. When you have a profile on 3 websites, it gives you more opportunities to work as a writer. But notice that Textbroker and HireWriters accept only native English speakers.

HireWriters Pricing

HireWriters is cheaper than Textbroker and they still provide the same quality.

Conclusion – Is Textbroker Worth It?

Based on my little test Textbroker wasn’t worth it. However, I could still try their services for other niches. Maybe they don’t have experts on “make money online” niche but they could provide better articles for other websites. I will keep their website in mind and probably try it again later in the future.

When you invest money into something, it’s good to measure your return on investment. If you put a dollar in, you want to get more than a dollar out. You can try Textbroker service but be sure that the articles are making you more revenue that you are putting in. Otherwise, you won’t make any profit.

As I explained in the video, I wouldn’t recommend working as a freelance writer in the long run. It can be a good way to earn money if you need it immediately but in the long run having your own blog is much more profitable. You can earn $10,000/month or even $100,000/month in the long run if you become successful with your blog. We could only dream of such income as freelance writers.

The great thing is that there’s a step-by-step training that will teach you everything you need to build a profitable blog. It’s called Wealthy Affiliate. That training taught me how to earn money online by having a blog even though I before had any former experience of it.

Now I could take a month or two off and I could still cover all my expenses from the income that I get from my blogs. It’s all passive income. If I can do it you can do it.

One Hour Translation Review: Earn $30 Per Hour as a Translator!

One Hour Translation Review 2018 - I Made +$50/HR But I Quit!

I have just published an updated One Hour Translation review 2018 on my YouTube channel. In the video, I explain why I quit even though I was making +$50/hour as a freelancer on OHT.

One Hour Translation Review

Name: One Hour Translation

Website: www.OneHourTranslation.com

Field: Translation Service

Short Review: One Hour Translation is a great way to earn extra income as a freelance translator. Based on my experiences you can earn around $30 per hour while translating normal texts. If you can translate more rare languages or expert texts (law, medical, etc.) your earnings can be even higher.

The availability of texts depends on what languages you are translating, what is your rating and how many other translators there are for those language pairs.

At the moment I don’t use OHT almost at all because I found a better way to earn money online. I believe you would love it as well.

What Is One Hour Translation (OHT) All About?

One Hour Translation is the world’s largest online translation agency. Here are some important statistics about the company:

  • Their translators from +100 different countries are translating 75 different languages
  • They have +80,000 business customers
  • Customer satisfaction is 9,32 out of 10
  • They claim to be the Fastest translation agency in the world
    (Statistics Collected 7.1.2017)

Here are some well-known businesses that have used One Hour Translation:

One Hour Translation

So, OHT is really a big company with reliable translation services. If you buy a translation from them, you don’t need to be afraid of a low-quality product. They deliver a high quality and a competitive price in the same package.

In my opinion, it’s a positive sign those huge companies like Coca-Cola, Amazon.com, Microsoft, IBM, P&G, Ikea and many other giants are using their service. If they trust in OHT, why wouldn’t you use it as well?

What Is the Price of Translation on OHT?

You can buy translations individually or by buying a monthly membership which contains certain amounts of translations. Here are OHT prices for individual translations:

One Hour Translation Price

Translation prices on One Hour Translation are not the cheapest ones in the market but there’s a good reason for that. Instead of competing with the lowest price, their strength is a high quality. All their translators go through screening to make sure all of them are professional.

Of course, you can always get cheap translations on Fiverr or somewhere else but then you can’t be sure about the quality. On the contrary, with One Hour Translation, you can always be sure about the high-quality translations. If you wouldn’t be satisfied, you can always contact their support or the translator directly.

I translated around 40 texts on OHT and once a client asked me to correct something. I made the changes in 5 minutes. OHT support team is also extremely helpful so you’ll get help from them if the communication doesn’t work with the translator. Every translation is usually monitored by other translators. If there are grammatical or spelling mistakes, they will inform you about it.

The price for general translation is $0,087/word which equals to $87 for 1,000 words. Then if you want to have an expert translation on a very specific subject like legal issues or with lots of medical jargon, then it costs $0,149/word which equals to $149 for 1,000 words.

These prices apply to most common languages (over 3,000 language pairs) but if you want to have a translation for more rare languages, then a price for general translation is $ 0.164/word and for Expert Translation $ 0.192/word. One example of these more rare language pairs is, for example, Finnish -> English or Hebrew -> French.

Ordering translations on OHT is as easy as 1,2,3…

What Is the Quality of Translators?

One Hour Translation requires that every translator is a certified professional. Everyone who wants to send their CV, references and relevant job experiences.

Even though I speak 5 languages and I have worked in 4 different countries, they didn’t at first accept me as a translator. However, after sending a few messages to their support team, they accepted my request. (By the way, you can have a look at my language blog LanguagesAreEasy.com if you are interested in learning languages more easily and faster.)

I have asked several times for the support if I could also translate from Spanish to Finnish. I have worked in Spain and I speak it fluently and Finnish is my native language. Still, they haven’t accepted my request because I don’t have an official certificate to show them about my Spanish skills.

My examples only prove how tough screening process all translators go through. And as I mentioned before, even though your translator would make a little mistake, other members will go through it and give you the correct one. The translator will get a rating for every project he finishes.

How Can I Earn Money on One Hour Translation?

To become a certified translator you need to update your profile and provide the required details such as a CV, certificates, your language pairs, a LinkedIn profile, fields of expertise, etc. Note that they will not be able to review your profile without an up-to-date resume and an updated list of skills.

Then you send them a request to review your profile and you want to work as a translator for them. If you fill their criteria, they will accept you and you can start getting translation projects from OHT.

But as I mentioned before, you need to have enough skills to work for them. Not necessarily a full-time translator but sometimes that’s what they require. Probably it depends on what languages you are translating because they must have lots of translators for something like English => Spanish or Spanish => English.

In this video I’ll explain how much money you can earn on average on One Hour Translation based on my own experiences:

Who is One Hour Translation For?

There are two ways to benefit from One Hour Translation:

1.Earning money as a translator.
2.Buying high-quality translations.

If you are a translator but don’t know where to find clients or job projects, One Hour Translation is a reasonable choice for you. The more language pairs you can choose, the more tasks you will get on One Hour Translation. My language pair is English => Finnish which means there are not so many jobs available. But if you translate more popular languages than Finnish, there are much more jobs.

You can get more projects also if clients rate your translations higher. On the other hand, if you get low ratings you won’t get so many projects anymore. When they offer you a task to translate, you need to be quick because otherwise someone else may do the task for you and earn the money.

You can also sign in as a client. Then you can buy translations for yourself or for your business, for example. There are hundreds of different language pairs that you can choose from and the quality is guaranteed in One Hour Translation as we discussed above.

Conclusion – Is One Hour Translation Worth It?

In my opinion, One Hour Translation is the best translation service that I have seen on the Internet. They only qualify translators who have enough skills to do the job well. So you can expect a very good quality if you are buying from them. Even though it’s more expensive than some Asian translators on Fiverr, it can be definitely worth it.

You can also sign up as a translator to make some money. However, translating is not the most profitable way to make money online. Check out my #1 recommendation to make a living online.

Is iWriter a Scam Or a Wonderful Platform to Outsource Your Content Writing? – Read Our Thorough Review

Our iWriter review is divided into two parts. In the first part, we will discuss how you can use iWriter for outsourcing your content writing and the second part walks you through how you can make money as a freelance writer.

I have bought several articles on iWriter so I have written the first part based on my own experiences. The second part is written by our writer who has more experience on earning money on iWriter.

I am sure you will enjoy and find our review helpful.

What Is iWriter? – A Great Place to Outsource Your Content Writing

I am a blogger and an online business owner. I know from my own experience that the most time-consuming part of making money with blogging is content writing. Creating a website and making the design takes only a few minutes but producing content is an ongoing process that you need to keep on doing day in and day out. If you stop posting new content, over the time course your blog will die.

iWriter is a platform where you can outsource your content writing even for a very cheap price like $1,50 for a short article. The higher value and the longer article you want, the more you should pay of course. However, sometimes you get a great writer for a cheap price. Maybe some experienced writer is just starting out on this platform and collecting positive reviews to build up his reputation. Or a full-time writer takes your article because the subject is interesting and easy for him.

Anyhow, iWriter gives you a 100% satisfaction guarantee. It means that you can ask revisions as long as you are fully satisfied. If you don’t like the freelance writer, you can give him a rating but somebody else will write the article for you. That’s what I have done if I wasn’t satisfied with the quality. It doesn’t pay you anything extra. In my opinion, the writer needs to be able to provide the content that fits exactly your requirements.

How to Outsource Content Creation on iWriter?

I recorded you a video review of iWriter to explain their service in-depth. I also show the process of buying articles through their website.

The process is very simple. You just need to fill out the following template and click, “Submit Project”.

is iwriter a scam

Fill out the form to get your article. It’s easy as 1-2-3.

Then you’ll just wait that the writer will finish the article and you’ll be notified. Many I have received my article within a few hours so they are pretty fast. Then you can have a look at the article.

If you are satisfied with the text, you can download it immediately. If you want that the writer re-writes it or a better writer gives you a text, you can ask for a revision.

=> Buy Articles from iWriter for as Low as $1,25 Per Article!

Benefits of Outsourcing Content Writing – More Profit for You!

I have written an article where I explain 4 reasons to outsource your content writing. In my opinion, the greatest benefit is that it gives you more time to accomplish other tasks and take your business to the next level.

Guess how many billionaires have become billionaires by doing all tasks themselves? I guess that the number is 0. Of course, you can make a living as a solopreneur but if you want to have even a greater impact on this world, you need to outsource some tasks. There are people who have great abilities to do many things. Why wouldn’t you use their talent?

If you use $10 for an article that pays you $100 over the time course, I think it was a great investment. In the online business getting profits is not linear and you will earn money even after years after publishing the content. You can get even 10,000% ROI for your outsourced articles. The potential is huge. Other great places to outsource your content writing are HireWriters and Fiverr.

Okay, now the first part of the review is over and we are going to take a look how you can make money on iWriter. Also, if you have any further questions on buying articles through their website, don’t hesitate to ask me in the comments below.

Making Money on iWriter as a Freelance Writer

iWriter is an online platform where you can write articles and get paid for it. On this second part of the article we are focusing on ‘How to make money on iWriter?’ and hence we will only talk about being a writer on iWriter. The iWriter Platform offers writers a chance to make as much money writing articles as they can, this, therefore, means the writer earns depending on the number of articles he/she has written.

It should be also noted that the articles written by the writer must be approved by the client and hence the quality is crucial. Therefore, quality articles have the highest chances of being approved by the client and hence the writer who worked on them is likely to earn more. With all that said, iWriter can be a great source of income.

4 Levels of a Writer – Your Income Goes Up

iWriter provides four levels of writers currently. When you first sign up as a freelance writer, you automatically become what is referred to as a 1.Standard Writer. This is the most basic level and as such the earnings for writing articles are less, and for that matter, the least, compared to the other higher levels. This is, however, the norm everywhere, as you have to climb yourself up.

is iwriter a scam

Your earnings as a standard writer

As you write and submit your articles, your clients will approve or reject them. Apart from that, the client will rate your article based on your writing skills. The rates range from 0 to 5 stars. It goes without saying that the higher the ratings you get, the faster you climb up the ladder.

is iwriter a scam

Your earnings will double as a premium writer. Notice, that these are MINIMUM earnings.

After being a Standard Writer therefore for a while, depending on your rating and number of articles you have successfully submitted, you may be upgraded to a 2.Premium Writer. As a Premium writer, your earnings per article increases. Depending on your rating as well as your number of articles you will be upgraded to become a 3.Elite Writer and your earnings subsequently increase. The highest rank is being a 4.Elite Plus Writer which earns your colossal amounts per article.

is iwriter a scam

MINIMUM earnings as an elite writer.

Payment of your articles will be automatically credited to your iWriter account immediately the client approves your article. You will be able to later transfer the funds to your preferred account or bank once you achieve your minimum limit. The transfer is executed periodically, usually after every two weeks.

How to Get Started on iWriter as a Freelancer?

When you first register, through a simple process, you acquire the login details. When you are logged in, you are taken to the iWriter home page.

On the homepage, you click on ‘Write content’ which takes you to a list of all the available articles which need to be written. You then choose the article you would like to write, but first click on ‘Special Instructions’ to know what exactly the client needs. After that, click on ‘Write Article’ and go ahead and work on it.

Be sure to adhere to all the instructions given by the client including the minimum word count. When you are done writing, check for grammar errors and the click on the ‘Submit Article’. When that is done, you wait for the client’s approval of your article.

If the article satisfies his/her requirements, he/she will approve your article and give you a rating. As soon as he/she does that, your account will be credited with the article amount and you will be notified.

The more you write the articles, as long as they are approved by the client, the more you earn. This also helps in making you climb up the ladder and hence more money.

How Much Can You Earn on iWriter?

This is a question most will ask. Let’s take an example of a Standard Writer who earns $2.43 for a 500-word article. If therefore you write only two articles per hour, this again depends on your speed and hence can be more or less, then that translates to $4.86 per hour. If you work for 8 hours a day, then that comes to $38.88 a day. Again, this is a freelance writer who is starting off.

For an Elite Plus Writer who earns $28.35 for the same article, therefore, using the same example it would translate to $56.7 per hour and a whopping $453.6 per day! Now you can answer for yourself whether that can replace your regular income. It should be clearly noted that the amount you will earn as a freelance writer with iWriter will purely depend on the effort you put into writing the articles and their quality.

is iwriter a scam

This calculator shows much much money you will earn by writing short 500 articles as an Elite writer.

It’s completely possible to write 10 articles of 500 words per day and even more. Of course, then writing is a full-time job for you. But imagine that you are living in a cheap country like Thailand, Philippines, Latin America or East Europe. You would be living like a king with $30,000/year.

=> Start Making +$100 Per Day as a Freelance Writer!

How to Make More Money on iWriter?

is iwriter a scam

Alessandra has written 23,430 articles on iWriter. If she earned $10 per article, her earnings have been already $234,300. Not bad, huh?

The most basic way of increasing your earnings as a freelance writer with iWriter would be of course to write more articles. Let’s say that you earn $30,000/year by writing 10 articles per day. Then you would earn $45,000/year by writing 15 articles per day. If you would be living in a cheap country and earning like that, you could achieve financial independence quickly and even retire if you want.

The other open secret is in the quality of your articles. The higher the quality of articles you write, the most likely they will be approved with a good rating from the client. A good rating would mean you climb up the writing ladder and subsequently your earnings increase as a result.

Writing quality articles would mean you will have to do a couple of things. First, you have to pay great attention to special instructions given by the client. This is critical because the client is the one with the authority to approve or reject your article with a rating, hence strive to always leave him/her happy. Secondly. you should do your research well before writing any article. Thirdly, make sure you understand what the article is all about for you to answer it accordingly.

These may sound like simple things but I (Roope) have ordered tens of articles online and most of the writers don’t understand simple instructions. I say, for example, that answer X questions and use them as sub-headings. Then write max.6 paragraphs per sub-heading and max.4 sentences per paragraph. You would be amazed how few writers will follow those instructions carefully.

Apart from writing articles, you can also earn more by being an iWriter Affiliate. This feature allows you to own part of iWriter and hence share the profit. iWriter pays 50% of their profit for affiliates. So, if they earn $10 because of the client that you referred to iWriter, you’ll earn $5. If they earn $100, you’ll earn $50 and so on.

is iwriter a scam

Notice that you can earn quite well as an Elite writer.

You Can Become Elite Writer in 1 Day!

One can ask, suppose you are a seasoned freelance writer, do you have to start with being a Standard Writer on iWriter? Then answer is, not necessarily. iWriter has an interesting feature where you can be given a number of articles to write which will be evaluated and rated by the iWriter team at a small fee and you are assigned a level depending on the average rating you get. Isn’t that good news?

You need to have 30 reviews from your clients. These prove that you have already experience as a freelance writer. Then you need to pay $197 fee to start the process to get qualified as an Elite writer. There is this fee so that only those who are serious about becoming Elite writer will apply. Of course, they also need to pay the salary for their employees who check your request.

Then you will write 3 based on the keywords that they’ll provide to you. iWriter will give you a star rating of those articles and calculate an average. In order to become an Elite writer, your average must be over 4,5 stars which mean that your ratings of those 3 articles must be at least 5, 5 and 4 stars. If you get on average between 4 and 4,5 stars, you will be upgraded to a Premium writer.

This whole process takes sometimes only 1 day so if you know that you’re a great writer, it can be a great way to boost your income.

Whether you choose to be a freelance writer with iWriter in your free time or take it up as a main source of income, be sure to earn a good income from it if you put all your effort in it.

iWriter Complaints – “My Article Was Rejected”

I saw that several writers were complaining that their article was rejected and they didn’t get money from that. I believe it must be frustrating to make a little research, write an article and get rejected. That’s why I would pay attention to your article quality.

I am not going to approve texts that have lots of grammatical mistakes and the writers haven’t even followed my instructions. In my opinion, there’s nothing wrong to reject such articles. Unqualified writers need to watch themselves in the mirror and ask why their articles are rejected.

There are writers who almost never get rejected because they provide high-quality work for clients.

Anyway, as a client, you won’t have this challenge. You can just order articles and approve texts only if you are satisfied with the content.

Conclusion – Is iWriter Worth It?

Based on the reasons that I have given above, iWriter is definitely worth it. You can make a good profit by outsourcing content and publish it on your blog or website. If you are a skillful writer, you can make a living on iWriter. In addition, it gives you the opportunity to work from home or wherever you are in the world with an Internet connection.

My experience shows clearly that iWriter is not a scam. I have received several articles using their platform and I will be using it in the future as well. Why wouldn’t you try their services as well? It’s completely free to create an account and you can order your first article within 2 minutes.

Earn $5,000 Per Month as a Writer – Is Writing Jobs Online a Scam Or Legit Opportunity?

There are dozens of online platforms that offer mouth-watering rewards for a variety of tasks. Some of these websites turn out to be not as glamorous as advertised or totally a scam. Many people trying to become freelancers may have stumbled on these “opportunities”. While in some cases they get paid, in other cases they get scammed and lose all the time invested.

In this review I will show is Writing Jobs Online a scam or a great opportunity to earn money online.

I have worked as a freelance writer, I have hired numerous freelancers and I know how to make a living online by blogging. In addition, I have reviewed more than 200 make money online programs so I believe I’m the the right person to give you an opinion about Writing Jobs Online. My team member made some research of this company and I have added my own comments to her text.

Let’s get started.

Writing Jobs Online Review

Name: Writing Jobs Online (WJO)

Website: www.writing-jobs.net

Cost : $47/month

Field: Freelance writing

Overall Ranking: 20 Out of 100

Have a look at my #1 recommendation to make money online as a writer. I have used it myself already for more than 2 years and it works great. I have even quit my well-paying 9 to 5 job to earn money with that website.

is writing jobs online a scam

What is Writing Jobs Online About? – Money From Home Up to $5,000/month

This is a website that offers to opportunity to earn a living by writing online. They provide a variety of writing jobs, tools, software, and training. They also offer other money making activities like surveys.

This website boasts that members can earn up to $700 per month, while top earners can get up to $5000 per month.

Writing on this website includes jobs like writing content for blogs, ebooks, websites, and magazines. Even though many bloggers earn +$10,000/month making $5,000/month as a freelance writer sounds a bit exaggerating. Let’s dig more into details to find out if they are just trying to fool us.

Who Is Behind Writing-Job.net? – The Guy Who Runs Several Websites

According to the information on the website, the owner is Glenn Anderson. This person also appears to own Gaming Jobs Online. Both websites feature a sales video that appears to be presented by the same person.

Another website that is like the previous websites mentioned is Photography Jobs Online. This website also features a sales video with the same lady as in writing-jobs.net. But one thing is different; the owner of this website is one Chris Page.

The information about these websites definitely raises questions and suspicions about their legitimacy. The outlook of his websites is always the same. It looks similar like Gold Opinions which we already reviewed in the past.

One characteristic to all of these websites is that when you trying to close the tab or leave the website, it gives you a notification, “Are you sure that you want to leave this page?” I am quite sure that the same guy is behind all of these pages.

Who Is Writing Jobs Online For?

Anybody who is looking to become a freelance writer and wants to make some extra cash can become a member. If you think you have great writing skills or you are just a beginner, this might be an interesting opportunity for you.

Writing Jobs Online is basically for anyone who wants to make money from the comfort of their beds.

People from outside the US can also be members of this website. This website is accessible to individuals in over 150 countries. If you are reading this, chances are your country is listed.

The downside is that you are going to have to pay to become a member, which defeats the purpose. Considering that many legit freelance websites offer more opportunities for free, you might have to give it some thought.

How to Become a Member of Writing Jobs Online?

Since it is not a free website, you will be charged $1 for a 7 days trial after which you will be charged on a monthly basis. We always recommend that you do your research before signing up on many of these freelance websites. Several of them have numerous complaints on the Internet and are not recommended. Even the biggest ones like Freelancer or Guru.

The reason for a monthly subscription is because Writing Jobs Online will not take any cuts from your earnings. This is unlike many other freelance websites where a percentage of your earning is taken. This is what they promise at least… For instance, if you make $1000 per month, you will be paid every cent of it.

The monthly subscription fee raises a red flag for a number of reasons

1) Usually as a freelance writer you are supposed to get paid to write for businesses and individuals, but this website charges you $47 a month.

2) While free trials are a great way of getting you acquainted with a particular site, Writing Jobs Online charges you $1. On signing up, your credit card information must be provided for the trial period.

These issues raise a red flag, especially if you have to give your credit card information for a free trial sign up.

How Does Writing Jobs Online Work?

It works in 3 simple steps: You choose a job – You submit your work – You get paid. It is pretty simple, right?

How Much Money Can You Make as a Freelance Writer in WJO?

As with many freelance websites, it is not really that easy to earn so much. It can be difficult to make enough money if you do not get hired full time. With that being said, Writing Jobs Online boasts of connecting you with high paying companies.

Companies listed on the Writing Jobs Online website include CNN, TMS, lifeHacker, About.com, and so on.

They make a bold claim that you can earn up to $50 per article and $500-$1000 for ebooks. The Writing Jobs Online also claims that you can earn between from $500 – $5000 every month. That is something. These figures are definitely way too good to be true.

Normally, if you want to earn such income as a freelance writer you need to have years of experience and find great clients who are willing to pay you more than other freelancers. In my experience there are many freelancers that just charge you more but the quality of their text is similar to writers that do it for 3-5 times cheaper.

Conclusion – Is Writing Jobs Online a Scam?

There are a number of questions about Writing Jobs Online that indicate that it could be a scam.

1) Several websites are very similar to Gaming Jobs online and Photography Jobs online. It also happens that the same owner appears on two different websites. We also observed that the same person presenting a sales pitch on 3 different websites. This questions their legitimacy.

2) Another interesting find is the earning calculator. While it is possible to earn up to $14000 a month as a freelance writer, you will have to be extremely good at it. The truth is there really is no way to be sure of your monthly income as a freelance writer. So the earning calculator is quite outrageous.

3) No freelancer should have to pay $47 a month when there are many free websites that are clearly legit and offer more options. Claims such as $30 – $120 per hour or $50 per article are just for the sake of promotions. They are never that good.

4) On the Writing Jobs Online website there more than a dozen reputable companies listed as clients. For many, this raises a red flag immediately, while others just fall for it. CNN, BBC, Engadget, and wall street journal are not likely to be affiliated with a website like Writing Jobs Online. This is because they are very resourceful and will rather deal directly with their writers.

is writing jobs online a scam

They have all these logos on their website but not a single proof these companies would really be their customers.

You may have read my post on 5 ways to avoid scams online. Writing Jobs Online doesn’t pass my filter. However, I have great news for you because I know several places where you can earn money as a freelance writer.

Legitimate Freelance Writing Jobs Online – 3 Great Options

One of the most famous freelance marketplaces is Fiverr. It’s also a great place to find work as a writer. One challenge is just that there are so many cheap competitors. I have still written some articles through Fiverr for one Finnish client because I think there are no many other Finnish writers who could produce the text that I can.

Another place where I have hired freelance writers is called HireWriters. I tried to join there as a writer but couldn’t because they use only native English speakers. If you are a native English speaker, I recommend joining there and trying it out.

Third alternative is iWriter. Their platform is very nice and I have enjoyed using their services. In addition, they are currently going to make a big update on their website to make it even better.

I know also many other freelance sites where you can earn money as a writer but I think that you can get started very well with these 3 ones. They are all legitimate services and I bet you’ll enjoy. Remember that success, after all, depends only on your own efforts.

How I Make Money Online As A Writer? – Huge Earning Potential

Nowadays I don’t work as a freelance writer so much because I know even more profitable way to make money online. Your earnings are not tied to the time that you use because you are earning passive income with my technique. I write the texts and I will get paid afterwards even years after publishing my posts.

The idea goes like this:

1.I create a blog/website (Have a look at my instructions on how to create a website in 30 seconds.)

2.I write articles on subjects and topics that are interesting to me and other people (for example making money online.)

3.People come to read my content through Google.

4.I earn commissions when my visitors buy products that I promote or click my Google ads.

The process is quite simple, isn’t it? The execution is also very simple but of course it requires persistence. Most likely you won’t earn $10,000 during the first months. But as you build up your blog and get more visitors to your blog, your earnings will exponentially grow.

The most interesting thing is that my income grows every month. With freelance writing, you will most likely hit your income potential at some point but if you earn money with my strategy, there is not an income limit. The best ones are earning millions of dollars every year.

I bet you would like to learn to do the same yourself. That’s why I’ll offer you 20 FREE interactive video lessons that will get you started.

Is Guru a Scam? – More than $200 MILLION paid to their members!

More than 1 million members.

More than 1,5 million jobs completed.

More than $200 MILLION paid to their members.

Is Guru a scam or a reliable way to hire freelancers or work as a freelancer? Read our honest review to find out!

Guru Freelance Review

is guru a scamName: Guru
Website: www.Guru.com
Founded: 1997
Field: Freelancing Websites

Overall Rank: 20 Out of 100 (Check Out My #1 Recommendation, 98 Out of 100)

What Is Guru Freelance?

Guru is a website where you can find & hire freelancers from all around the world. The service is already founded in 1997 so they have been in the industry for a respectable 20 years!

In Guru you can find freelancers to work for you for almost anything:

  • Design, Art & Multimedia
  • Web, Software & IT
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Engineering & Architecture
  • Writing & Translation
  • And more

On the other hand, if you are a freelancer, you could use it as a way of finding new clients.

BUT.

After reading and researching about Guru.com, I can’t recommend it for my visitors. There are way too many negative reviews and bad experiences. I will explain more thoroughly when you read further.

=> Looking for a Reliable Way to Make Money Online? Have a Look at My #1 Recommendation!

is guru a scam

Guru Homepage. 1,5 Million members worldwide is a huge number. How did they achieve it?

How Does Guru Work?

The idea of Guru is to connect freelancers and small business owners. Others are looking for freelancing job while others are looking for talented people to do the work for them. The platform is a connector between those two parties.

So, the idea is the same like in Fiverr, HireWriters, Upwork, and Freelancer. However, the execution doesn’t work so well in Guru.

As a freelancer, you can post jobs to show what kind of work you can do for other people. Let me show an example:

is guru a scam

This freelancer called VideoExpertz is offering video animations.

Then as a buyer, you can publish a job that freelancers can see. You describe what kind of work you need to get done, give a few details and a category.

Freelancers can start bidding and you will choose the best one. Then you will start the cooperation and things go happily ever after. Or maybe not… Have a look what kind of reviews ex-members are writing of Guru.

Guru Reviews

There are hundreds of reviews of Guru all around on the Internet. Some of them are positive but the majority of people were greatly unsatisfied with their service. Let’s take a look what kind of average rating Guru gets from different review sites.

  • Sitejabber Rating: 1,8 out of 5 – ‎56 reviews
  • FitSmallBusiness Rating: Less than 2 out of 5 – 24 reviews.
  • TrustPilot Rating: 3,6 out of 10 – 12 reviews

What do you think about those numbers? They look somehow similar to the other scammy freelancing website called Freelancer. On the other hand, Fiverr for example has achieved much better ratings.

It’s interesting that almost anywhere you look, you find mostly negative reviews of Guru. In Sitejabber there were 56 reviews in total. Guess how many of them gave the worst rating 1 out of 5? 48 people. And only one person gave 5 out of 5. Probably he was someone from Guru staff? 😉

Guru Complaints

Now you may be wondering what kind of complaints people have about Guru.

is guru a scam

A typical complaint of Guru: Lots of scammers there.

You can find tens of similar reviews what Ian has written above. He warns you of fraudulent “gurus” on that website. Then he also mentions that Guru support will not help you and you will lose money when a problem arises.

It seems that if a freelancer steals your money, Guru support will just say something like, “Please, contact your freelancer and try to negotiate with him. (Read: this is not our business).” It’s devastating how bad service they have.

Let’s have a look at another complaint.

is guru a scam

“A safe haven for fraudulent developers.”

Jorge pointed out that Guru.com is a safe haven for fraudulent freelancers. The problem is that you need to pay them in advance before they have even started working. Then they can just say, “I have started working and I will deliver you the work ASAP.” When a deadline comes near they say, “I am almost ready, just wait a second.”

Then deadline passes and they just disappear with your money. What can you do then? Contact Guru support. They ask you to contact the freelancer. But how can you contact the freelancer if he has disappeared like a fart in the Sahara desert?

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • The idea of connecting freelancers and small business owners is great

Cons:

  • Tons of negative reviews on the Internet
  • You need to pay freelancers in advance. => They get your money even though they wouldn’t finish the work
  • There are many better alternatives out there.
  • Many freelancers in Guru are highly skilled in scamming buyers

Conclusion – Is Guru a Scam?

Guru itself may not be a scam but at least their website is full of scam artists. I don’t recommend trying their services. You will just save money and time by staying far away from Guru.

If you are looking for great freelancing site, have a look at Fiverr, HireWriters (for writing) or Toptal (for top-class freelancing).

My favorite way to earn money online is through affiliate marketing. You don’t need to sell anything but just help people. You don’t need to have your own products but you can still earn lots of passive income online. Even +$10,000/month.

If you are interested in learning to make money with affiliate marketing, have a look at this (free) step-by-step training. You will get 20 interactive video lessons right away as a gift. I believe these lessons will help you to understand and learn how to make money with affiliate marketing.

Is Freelancer a Scam? – Can 24,267,723 Registered Users Be Wrong?

Is Freelancer a scam? Even though Freelancer has a huge amount of registered users (+24 MILLION) and jobs, there are hundreds of negative reviews of their website on the Internet. Some people are saying it’s a scam website but others say they are earning a full-time income there. Let’s find out what is the right answer.

Freelancer Review

is freelancer a scamName: Freelancer

Field: Make Money Online -Programs

Overall Rank: 50 Out of 100 (Check Out My #1 Recommendation to make money online, 98 Out of 100)

What Is Freelancer?

Freelancer is a huge marketplace for freelancers and business owners who want to outsource their projects. They have already more than 24 MILLION registered users and more than 11,8 MILLION jobs posted through their platform. Freelancer is the biggest online marketplace according to the number of their members.

is freelancer a scam

There are about 25 MILLION registered users in Freelancer (and counting!)

There are simply two purposes for using Freelancer.com:

1.Earn money with your skills as a freelancer. Offer your services, create a profile, contact people who buy services, etc.

2.Buy projects and services from freelancers. Many times your best business move is to outsource some of your work. Sometimes you may be able to do everything yourself but by leveraging the help of other people, you can give a huge boost for your business. One of the typical thing what website and online business owners outsource is content writing.

Freelancer Job Offers

First of all, you need to sign up, verify your email address and add information to your profile. Once you have done these 3 steps, you are ready to start bidding on offers. Here are some examples of offers for Freelancers that are actual now:

is freelancer a scam

3 examples of jobs offers on Freelancer.com

On the left-hand side, you can see the project name, description, and the category. Then the number 28, 73, 0 shows how many bids other freelancers have already made for this project. Then the clock shows how much time there is left for offers. On the right side, you will see how much is the average bid for this project.

You may be wondering why there are 0 offers for “Create an Animation” project and what does that trophy mean.

In Freelancer that’s called a contest. You can create contests where you will receive several entries from different freelancers and then you will award the best one. This can give you a freedom to choose because you don’t have to use only one freelancer but you can “crowdsource” your projects.

But as you can see from this example, it’s much easier to get people bidding for normal freelancer projects rather than contests. I would recommend trying how contests work and then leverage them more. Probably it will take some to learn to use it properly.

Freelancer – Get Certified

As a freelancer, the most challenging part is probably making your first sales.  People are thinking like,”If nobody has ever bought from you, why would I buy then?” But once you get the ball rolling it gets easier and easier.

Freelancer offers also some ways to boost your credibility and chances to get more projects – You can get certified!

There are several tests that you can accomplish in Freelancer and then people who offer a job can see your certifications. You can accomplish tests for example for Translation & Languages, Websites, IT & Software and Sales & Marketing. In the picture below you can see a few examples.

is freelancer a scam

You can acquire certifications in order to get more jobs.

If I would be a buyer, I would for sure prefer buying from freelancers who have acquired certifications to show their skills. However, these certifications are not free.

Each test costs at least $5 and what happens if you fail? You may end up spending lots of money doing all these tests. It may be worth it if you get paid more then in freelance jobs but still in most freelancer sites you don’t need to pay such fees.

On the other hand, it shows a great commitment to buyers because you have invested time and money so that you could get more projects.

Freelancer Complaints

I think this is a highly interesting part of this review. Even though Freelancer is the biggest freelancing site on the Internet, there are hundreds of complaints and negative reviews of their service.

  • In Highya.com Freelancer got an average rating 1,1 out of 5 stars based on 183 reviews.
  • In SiteJabber.com Freelancer got an average rating 1,8 out of 5 stars based on 1,349 reviews.
  • In TrustPilot.com Freelancer achieved an average rating 5,9 out of 10 stars based on 492 reviews.

If we are honest, these numbers are not really good. I am quite surprised but I have also seen the same phenomenon before. The biggest crowdfunding platform in the world, GoFundMe, has also tons of complaints.

The largest bitcoin exchange in the world called Coinbase has received several negative reviews from their users even though I never had any problems with their service. Instead, I earned good money through their website without doing anything.

I don’t know how is it possible that these three largest services have so low ratings and so many reviews. How can they be largest if everyone is complaining about their website? That’s strange.

What do you think? I would love to hear your opinion in the comments below of this article.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • It’s the biggest freelance marketplace in the world
  • You can outsource the work or earn money as a freelancer
  • There is also a possibility to create contests
  • You can achieve certifications to get more jobs (It costs $5 per test)
  • You can get a $20 bonus if you sign up through my link

Cons:

  • Tons of negative reviews on the Internet
  • Negative reviews makes it harder to trust this website
  • You may lose time and money if they are not reliable

Conclusion – Is Freelancer a Scam?

It seems that there are many scammers on their website. Hundreds of reviews also on the Internet claim that it’s a scam website and you will just waste your time and money. Meanwhile, you can find people praising their service saying that they are making a full-time income on Freelancer or outsourcing their projects successfully.

I would be at least very careful with their website and start small. When you how the things work you can go bigger. Or if things don’t work well, you can just leave their service and move to another freelance website. One possibility is to try their service with a $20 sign up bonus and see how it works.

I am not using Freelancer service regularly because I have found some other marketplaces useful. At the moment I am mainly using HireWriters and Fiverr. Have you used these websites to earn money or outsource some work?

After all, I prefer building my own online business instead of using my time on building someone else’s business. Have you heard the old saying? “Follow your dreams or work for someone who did.”

If you are interested in learning how to build your own online business to create an income flow, have a closer look at Wealthy Affiliate. You will get a step-by-step training that teaches you literally everything you need to a successful online business.

XPlace Review – Earn $39 for Writing 250 Words!

Welcome to our Xplace Review!

We have experience of more than 200-250 make money online opportunities and today we are going to take a look at one of the most interesting ones.

I have seen lots of scams on the Internet and services that are not very interesting. Xplace seems to be different and it provides you to earn a good income online. It also provides you a possibility to outsource your projects to high-quality freelancers.

XPlace Review

Xplace ReviewName: XPlace
Website: www.Xplace.com
Founded: In 2004 by Allon Mason. Based in Los Angeles.
Field: Make Money Online -Programs

Overall Ranking: 91 Out of 100 (Check Out My #1 Recommendation to make money online)

What Is XPlace?

Xplace is a big marketplace for freelancers and small business owners who need to get some work done. If you have heard of Fiverr or Upwork, Xplace is somehow similar. You can use it for two purposes:

1.Earn money as a freelancer.
2.Find qualified freelancers to do your projects (=outsource)

I think that the idea of Xplace is great. It helps people all around the world earn some money while working from home, beach, cafe or literally anywhere. At the same time, it gives small business owners a possibility to find easily people who would be interested in doing the work for him.

Here is an introduction video made by Xplace team which explains in a simple way how their service works. I recommend taking a look because it helps you understand their website better and what kind of benefit it can provide for you.

(A thumbnail is a bit strange but don’t let it distract you. The video is great!)

If you are wondering, why some of the videos on their YouTube channel are in Hebrew, it’s because they have an office in Israel and in Ukraine even though Xplace is based in Los Angeles.

What Can You Buy in Xplace?

Literally anything.

Xplace has more than 500 categories for different kind of jobs and projects. Here are some of the categories just for example:

  • Websites
  • Sound & Music
  • Lawyers & Legal Service
  • Accountants
  • Design & Graphics
  • Software & Programming
  • Writing & Editing
  • And much, much more
xplace review

You can find almost any kind of freelancers in Xplace

It’s amazing how much Internet helps to connect people all around the world. I found, for example, my last job through the Internet. I left my CV on a platform contacted me then. I worked for the company for +7 months but recently I quit because I want to concentrate more on building a successful online business.

I had also left my profile on another platform already a long time ago and recently a Finnish bank (at least I guess so because of their subjects) contacted me because they wanted me to write blog posts on their website to boost Google rankings.

I have also ordered a tens if not hundreds of articles from freelance writers through different platforms including HireWriters. Even the sky is not a limit on Xplace and other freelance marketplaces.

How Much Can You Earn in Xplace as a Freelancer?

This naturally depends on you and your skills. If you know how to do something very well, people are willing to pay you more. If you know, for example, how to write great articles, you can let me know and I can hire to write posts for my websites. (Here are more resources on outsourcing content writing.)

Anyway, I will take here a few examples which illustrate how Xplace works and what kind of income you could expect. Let’s have a look what kind of projects people have recently ordered in Xplace.

xplace review

Somebody ordered a website for a travel company and is willing to pay up to $500 for this project.

In the top of this picture, you can see the details of this project.

  • Budget is up to $500.
  • Bidding ends in 32 days and 8 hours.
  • Freelancers have bid from $17 up to $70 per hour or $28-1,929 per project.

This information will give you some hint what kind of bid should you give. You can leave your own bid on the right. Then you have an opportunity to write bid comments and add attachments that could boost your possibilities to get applied (for example CV or some examples that you can really create a travel website).

Let’s have a look at another example.

xplace review

Somebody is looking for a ghost writer and seems to be ready to pay you quite well.

You can see that this guy needs only 150-200 word articles. The average amount of bid is $39 per 250 words. In my opinion, that’s really good in this kind of freelancer website. I could write 250 words in 20-30 minutes (depending on the subject) which means that my hourly rate would be about $100/hour in this project.

Okay, let’s admit that probably I need to review my article very carefully so it can take some time but still this proves us a point how good money it’s possible to earn on Xplace.

What Is the Price of Xplace?

As I mentioned above, freelancers need to pay a monthly fee in order to work through Xplace. There are currently 3 different plans $28/month, $75/3 months or $232/year. You can see the details in the picture below (the screenshot was taken 12.6.2017 so the system has calculated dates according to it.

Xplace Membership Plans

I would like to hear what do you think about prices and the fact that you need to pay something in order to work through Xplace. Please leave a comment below to let me know your opinion.

A great thing in Xplace is that you don’t need to pay any fees for accomplishing jobs because you pay this monthly fee. It allows you to earn bigger percentage than it would be possible in other freelance marketplaces.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • You can find freelancers from hundreds of different categories
  • Finding high-quality and motivated employees/freelancers becomes easier
  • The service was already founded in 2004 so they have 13 years of experience in the industry
  • You are able to earn good salary as a freelancer
  • Membership fee filters some unqualified freelancers

Cons:

  • It’s not so big marketplace like Fiverr or Upwrok

Yes, Xplace works for its purpose to connect freelancers and small business owners. I always say that this kind of services is wonderful. Imagine that 20 years ago people could have only dreamed of this kind of platforms like Xplace.

When it comes to work, there are always two choices in life. You can either build your own business or build someone else’s business. I have quit my day job as a Key Account Manager because I want to build my own online business in order to have a full financial and time freedom.

I offer only seldom freelance writer services for other people because I prefer building my own business further.

If you are interested in building your own online business as well in order to have a freedom to live and work wherever you want, whenever you want, I recommend taking a closer look at Wealthy Affiliate.

Can I Make Money As a Freelance Writer? How Much? – This Is What a Freelancer Said!

Can I make money as a freelance writer? You’ve probably heard of people who write online for a living. They write articles at home and get paid. It sounds easy and a lot of fun, and it just seems like a great way to unleash your creativity. But before you give up your day job, let’s dig deeper into the world of freelance writing.

I want to mention that this post is originally created by a freelance writer. I wanted to hear what does he think about the subject so I can share them with you. I must admit that what he wrote, may surprise you as it surprised myself.

Can I Make Money As a Freelance Writer

What is Freelance Writing and How Does It Work?

Freelance writing means you write for different companies or individuals, and you’re not bound by any long-term contract except the one you enter into for the current task. The way it works varies, but usually, you are emailed a topic to write about. It includes the instructions, deadline and how you’ll be paid.

Once you’re done writing, you submit the article via email or the company’s website. You get paid upon completion of the job and move on to the next task. If the contract runs for several months, you’ll be paid on a regular basis, weekly, monthly etc. usually via PayPal.

HireWriters is one very popular and high-quality place to earn money as a freelance writer. I have already bought many articles there.

Who is Freelance Writing For?

Freelance writing is for anyone who wants to earn extra income. Anyone who can type on a word processor can apply. These jobs are open to staying at home moms, dads, students, anyone who wants to earn more money. While freelance writing can take many forms, most are now done online.

If you don’t have a job and need to make a few bucks, you can go online and look for a writing job. If you’re a parent who has a job but wants to earn more, freelance writing is an option too.

The Good

  • Freelance Online Writing Jobs are Legit: there are online job scams, but freelance writing is legit. There are companies and individuals who will pay you to write articles for them.
  • Work at Home: being able to work at home means no traffic, no looking for parking lots, no annoying co-workers and no boss over your shoulders. You don’t have to dress up, you can eat home cooked food and don’t have to leave your bedroom to go to work.
  • Little or No Work Experience Required: there’s no need for a degree in journalism. The topics are often diverse and as long as you know how to research and write, you can be a freelance writer.
  • No Messy Contracts: once you’re done writing for a client, you can move on to the next one. There’s no need to put up with a client you don’t like.
  • Take a Break Anytime: don’t feel like working for the next week or so? Once you’re done with the current contract, you can take a break and relax.

Freelance writing sounds like fun, but it’s not exactly the dream job you may think it is. In the following section, we’ll examine the facts that aspiring freelance writers have to know.

The Bad

  • There are Still Deadlines: one of the most common misconceptions is that freelance writers can work any time of the day they want. That’s not exactly true. When a client sends you articles to write, there’s a deadline. You must finish the articles within the day or you may not get paid. Sure you can start late, but if you do, you’ll be pressed for time later. In other words, it’s just like working in an office.
  • No Benefits: forget about social security, 401k, maternity leave pay, paid vacation leave, medical leave, etc. You will not get any of those as a freelance writer. You’re pretty much on your own unless you have another job that pays for that.
  • There are Scammers: yes, there are legitimate job offers, but there are also scam artists who will ask you to write articles but will disappear when it’s time to pay. This isn’t just common in online writing jobs but online work in general.

Can I Make Money As a Freelance Writer

  • You need to do a lot of research. Whether you’re writing about health, social media, SEO, reviewing a product, etc. you have to do your homework. You cannot just copy paste information you see online because there is software which can detect that. If your work contains plagiarized content, you won’t get paid, so it must be all original.
  • You’ll Do Editing: you won’t just write, as you’ll need to proofread and edit your articles. If there are grammatical errors, the client will return it. You won’t get paid until the client is satisfied with your work.

  • Competition is Stiff: you’re not the only freelance writer online, so you’ll be competing with others for the best paying gigs.  If you’re just starting out, it’s going to be an uphill battle as clients prefer experienced writers. To build up your portfolio, you’ll have to take low paying jobs.
  • Pay Varies:  freelance writers make $24 on average, but that’s assuming you’re an established writer. If you’re new, the pay will be lower.
  • Distractions at Home: there are so many possible distractions to working at home. Kids, friends dropping by, phone calls, TV, etc. Since you’re unsupervised, it’s tempting to slack off. This will affect the quality of your work and make your client unhappy.
  • No Job Security: how long is this writing gig going to last? The fact that there’s no long-term contract gives you freedom. But what happens if you no longer get orders from that client?

My Final Opinion of Freelance Writing

So can you earn money from freelance writing?  Sure, but it isn’t as easy as people might think. It entails a lot of work, and the pay isn’t what people or the job description makes it out to be. Not only do you have to work hard, but the pay, especially when you’re starting out, can be low.

If you want to make a living from home, a better option would be affiliate marketing. I know a very good a community-based online program that teaches you the step-by-step how to create your own online business. Membership is free and there are tips to help build websites and how to monetize them. Take a closer look and start for free!
