Multilevel Marketing vs Affiliate Marketing. Success Is Possible in Both But….

So, you want to make money online but you can’t decide between MLM and affiliate marketing. Today I am going to compare those two in this Multilevel Marketing vs Affiliate Marketing -article. Let’s start first by earning potential.

Both Can Be Profitable

If you want to earn well, there is a lot of potential in both of those. There are multi level marketers who are making $10,000/month and they are affiliate marketers who are making $10,000/month. But I have seen one interesting fact in both of the marketing ways. Most of the people are earning less than $100/month in MLM or affiliate marketing. It tells us the hard reality. Many people try because it’s easy to get in. But many people also fail.

However, if somebody has failed it doesn’t mean that you would fail. If somebody has succeeded, you can succeed too. They say that 9 out of 10 businesses fail. Robert Kiyosaki had already failed twice and he was starting a new business. People asked him, “Why would you bother? You have already failed twice.” Robert just answered, “Well, if 9 out of 10 businesses fail, I still need to fail 7 times more and then I will succeed.

There are nowadays more than 3,4 billion people online and the number is rising every day. Billions of dollars are spent every year online. By becoming an affiliate marketer or multi-level marketer, you can get your own share of that.

Want to Become Rich Quickly and Easily?

MLM-programs are usually marketed with shiny objects: “See how much our top marketers are earning!!!” Then there are pictures of successful people driving new cars and living in big houses. “Want to become a rich like them? Join our program today and you can be one of them!”

Same applies partially to affiliate marketing. There are many people who are making big income online only by promoting other people’s products. It can give you an illusion that making money with affiliate marketing is quick and easy. But I need to tell you the truth.

There is no shortcut to success. If you want to build your own business, it requires hard work.

Affiliate marketing or MLM-program will not make you rich overnight. You can make your first income within the first week like Alex Sol did but it will require very dedicated effort Most of the time you will earn your first money from affiliate marketing after a few months. But the happy news is that when you start generating income, in affiliate marketing it will usually grow like a snowball.

You can easily scale up your online business by repeating the same things that you used before to achieve a little success. Did you achieve your first #1 ranking in Google? Repeat the process to get more #1 rankings. Did you make your fist sale, keep on doing the same things and more sales will come?

Millionaires say that earning a first million was the most difficult one but the others were already much easier. When you start getting organic traffic and sales from your website, keep learning and the results will increase.

Why I Don’t Like MLM?

Personally, I haven’t really found MLM-programs that I would like to join and put my efforts. There have been some very interesting programs but all of them have the same problem. Their products are way too expensive.

I am not saying that an expensive wouldn’t be worth it because it definitely can. Still, the products that you find in MLM-products are usually 2-3x more expensive than similar products that you could find in a local supermarket. Are they higher quality? Sometimes yes, sometimes not.

One thing that many people don’t like in MLMs is that they need to recruit new people all the time. They are asking their friends and family members to join. Sometimes it may even seem like “forcing” new people. Then having those little parties at home where you show new products to your friends and they need to buy something because they want to be polite and don’t want you to get angry. (Of course, I am a little bit exaggerating here but you get the point.)

Another thing is that most of the MLM-programs are very expensive to join. We have reviewed many of them on YourOnlineRevenue.com and you have probably seen that many times it costs +$99/month to get in. Sometimes the price had been even many hundreds of dollars every month. Compare to affiliate marketing. You can get started totally for free without any investments.

Why Do I Like Affiliate Marketing?

The idea of affiliate marketing is easy. Just leave links of interesting products or websites to somewhere on the Internet. When somebody clicks the link and buys something, you will earn a commission. You can promote literally anything you want.

If you are interested in dogs, you can promote dog products.
If you are interested in Christianity, you can promote Bibles.
If you are interested in traveling, you can promote travel products like hotels and airlines.

Here you don’t have the same challenge like in MLM that products would be too expensive because you can promote products of any kind. You can promote products that cost $1 or you can promote products that cost $10,000. And sometimes you can even give a discount for your followers which is even better.

Imagine that in MLM-products there is usually at least 20% extra price but in affiliate marketing, you may give a 20% discount sometimes. Is there a big difference? (Note: there is not always a discount but sometimes)

In affiliate marketing, you can find products for everyone’s needs

I have a good friend. He is very skillful to handle money like I am. However, there is a very big difference what kind of products we use and buy. He is not looking for cheap products, he is looking for quality products.

I am also looking for quality but I am also concerned about price. I am not willing to pay $1,000 if I can get the same product for $200. Don’t get me wrong here. My friend doesn’t want to buy expensive products just for the sake of it. But for him, it’s not a problem if a product is expensive if he just gets good quality. Some people look for very cheap products, some people don’t care and some people look for luxurious products. “Buy a luxury holiday of two weeks on the beach of the Caribbean.”

People are different and products that they look for are different. That’s why affiliate marketing is wonderful. You can promote products of any price. How would it feel to promote a product for $5,000 and get a 10% commission? That’s totally possible. You just need to target the right audience.

Remember, many of them don’t know what they are going to buy when they go online. First, they are searching for the reviews and other people’s opinions about the products.

Nowadays people don’t buy blindly. They want to read the product reviews.

Before buying a smartphone the person can search from the Internet “What is the best smartphone for $200.”

People are searching reviews for

• Speakers

In the other words, people are searching everything from the Internet.

Meanwhile, thousands (or probably millions) companies are trying to sell their products. The same companies are at the same time eagerly trying to find people who would like to promote the products.

You can write the review of their products. Then leave the link to the company’s website.

Then someone is trying to find the product from the Internet, your website pops up and gives him the final push before he buys the product. Then he goes to the company’s website, buys the product and you earn the commission (which can be even $1,400!)

Let me give you the simple example how you can earn money by writing a simple review of the smartphone.

I am going to buy a new smartphone very soon and I am planning to pay approximately $200. Before buying, I want to know which one of the $200 phones is the best.

I will write in Google “What is the best smartphone for $200”. Then I will read some reviews of $200 phones and decide which one I will buy.

Let’s imagine that you had written the review about Huawei Honor 5X and your text convinces me, so I decide to buy it. I click your link at the end of your review and order my new Huawei Honor 5X.

Guess who earns the commission? You!

Don’t think that it would be too complicated to put the links. For example, if you click that link “Huawei Honor 5X above and end up buying anything from Amazon, I earn the commission.

“Can I Write the Reviews of the Products That I didn’t Buy?”

Yes you can!

This can be surprising but it’s true. For example, I didn’t buy Mobile Monopoly 2 but I still wrote a review about it. How is it possible?

I made the little research and saw that the product is not worth buying because I saw many people’s bad experiences with the product. If I am not willing to buy it I definitely don’t recommend it to you.

Still my review can be very useful for you. You don’t need to make the same research as I did. You don’t need to use many hours on the Internet studying people’s experiences with this product because I made it for you.

The same applies to the reviews that you can write. You can search people’s experiences about the products and then write the review and make money.

You Can Choose Your Passion

As we talked before, people are searching and buying everything from the Internet nowadays. That means that you can write the reviews about literally everything.

What is your hobby?

What do you love doing?

Which products do you like?

What subject is interesting for you?

Think about these questions and decide which subject do you want to choose. You can be sure that there are affiliate programs for every subject you can name.

It means that you can always find the products to promote.

Write the Reviews. Honestly.

You may be thinking, “Hmmm… if I need to write reviews that encourage people to buy the products, do I need to be dishonest to sell the products better?”

NO! You don’t need to be dishonest.

No one will like you if you write the dishonest reviews. But if you sincerely help people to find the products that they are looking for, they will like you more and they will eventually buy more.

“How can I sell anything if I need to tell the pros and cons honestly?”

Everyone of us knows that there is no a perfect product (or if you have a perfect product, you will make lots of money!) Think about the products that you are using. Your smartphone, your laptop, your bed, your table, your chairs and so on.

They are not perfect. There are pros and cons in every product.

Even though many of the products I am using are not perfect I can still recommend them for the others.

For example, there is a very good price/quality ratio in my laptop. I believe that many people would like to buy the same laptop. I could write the review and earn some commissions.

Be a Friend!

I am not the professional with the smartphones. I know how to use them but I don’t know too much about little technical stuff. Still I could write you a review and probably you would get some benefit. You would know if the phone is working well or not.

Are you asking your friends when you are about to buy something? I know that many people ask opinions from their friends and so do I.

We appreciate our friends’ opinions and the same applies when you are writing reviews. You don’t need to know all the details perfectly but you can just describe your own experiences.

People are interested in your experiences when they are about to buy the same product.

Write Bad Reviews!

What?

I mean that you can also write the reviews of the products that you don’t like and they will make you more money. How?

Let’s say that you write the reviews about those smartphones. You write the review of Samsung Galaxy S4 and you honestly didn’t like it. You can say it straight in your review. You can say that the product was bad and you didn’t like using it.

In the end of the review, you will leave a link, “Galaxy S4 isn’t worth buying. FIND A BETTER SMARTPHONE HERE!” Then people will be directed to another review where you are describing a better phone that you can honestly recommend.

That way good and bad products will generate your income.

Are You Willing to Pay the Price for Success?

Have you seen that iceberg already in my Wealthy Affiliate review?

In my opinion, it illustrates greatly the price for success. How do you understand success?

One great definition of success is “The correct or desired result of an attempt.” In other words, you do something and when you get the desired result, you have succeeded.

What does success mean in online business? For many people, it means extra income, full-time income or financial independence. What is a success for you in online business? $200/month, $1,000/month or $10,000/month?

There is Always a Price for Success!

Let’s say that you want to earn the full-time income online, working from home. In order to achieve that, you need to work a certain amount of time. You need to learn the skills to provide value for people. Then you need to reach the people for example in your website, social network or on the email list.

First of all, this requires time. You can’t expect to learn everything in one day. But you can expect to learn it in one year.

But the interesting thing is that when people start the online business and confronts the first failure (see the iceberg), many people quit. Some people succeed for the first try but most of the successful people have failed many times before making the real breakthrough.

Thomas Edison failed 10 000 times before inventing the light bulb. How many times you are willing to fail?

Before I thought that failure is the opposite of success. Now I know that failure is the part of success.

Disappointments and THE GOOD NEWS

We disappoint usually when our expectations don’t come true in the real world. That may happen in our life. We don’t know what the future brings.

But remember the Good news! There are also a lot of situations when you get more than you have expected. Like this guy who started earning over $10,000/month after working online for a bit over one year.

Don’t let your expectations define  your success.

Sometimes you will get more than you expected, sometimes less.

Focus on giving your best and you will get what you earn. If you get fewer rewards than you expected think how you could work better next time and get rewarded bigger.

Price for Online Success

Success online isn’t different than success offline. There are no shortcuts. (Although some scammers so claim falsely!)

You will need to work. You will need to learn. You will need to be persistent.

But think about the consequences. Work for a “normal job” for 3 years. You start by earning $2,500/month. And after 3 years you are still earning $2,500/month or if things go well $2,600/month. Would it be better to work online for 3 years and start earning $10,000/month?

I’m not saying that you will automatically earn $10,000/month after working 3 years online. It depends on highly how much you are willing to work and pay the price. As I said before you will get more or less as you have expected. But don’t let your expectations define your success.

Having an online business requires also some discipline as any other important thing. You may just want to scroll Facebook news feed but that doesn’t build your business. You need to focus on the most important things. Good concentration will give you better results in less time. (Remember Pareto 80/20 Principle)

Good Concentration -> Good Results. Bad Concentration -> Bad Results.

Are You Willing to Pay the Price?

Those who pay the price will get the prize. Nothing worthwhile in life comes without work and the price. You know it’s easy to get a fast pleasure eating fast food, drink beer, horse around with your friends or and doing things like that.

If you want to be fit, earn $10,000/month or achieve something worthwhile, honestly, sometimes you need to delay the gratification.
