Is Nutrisystem Scam? Read This Post Before Joining!

According to the current employee, a weight loss counselor, she revealed that most of the time the reward codes Nutrisystem gives to their clients don't work.

Not only that, the warehouse had always been in chaos pushing the employees to work harder to fix the issues. 

If you plan to work for Nutrisystem as one of their weight loss counselors, it's best not to do that or else you'll suffer like the most employees.

"You are not allowed to have consecutive days off unless you work part-time. There is no advancement," a current employee wrote. 

This isn't about the physical office or the warehouse, but the working environment itself isn't inducing motivation for most of the workers.

"There's a lot of favoritism, many get away with a lot... There's no career advancement at all," the current employee added to the rant. Another employee supported the claim by saying there's no job security for them.

If you notice that Nutrisystem seems limited when it comes to giving extra bonuses even to the affiliates, the weight loss counselors feel that, too. This time, it's way more intense.

"Very fast-paced work environment, stressful, difficult working conditions and unrealistic monthly goals for the employees. Hourly pay is below average, especially if you are traveling from the city daily," a former weight loss counselor revealed.

Aside from that, the commission rates are very low (worth 2% per sale) to the point they treated it as a joke. 

Like most weight loss programs, WebMD warns the total overhaul of your lifestyle including the expenses involved in it.

That's because Nutrisystem varies their diet plan to people with conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and high cholesterol.

"If you like to cook or eat out, or you have a tight food budget, this plan is not for you," Eric Metcalf, MPH of WebMD stated.

There are issues on the Better Business Bureau stating the majority of their “satisfied” dieters have problems with canceling their membership.

Based on the statements of one client, he wanted to cancel his autoship program because he’s already in the ideal weight.

So, there’s no need to continue following the meal plan. When he sent them an email or called the customer service, there’s nobody answering his request albeit the frequency of repeated request for cancellation. Because of that, he felt Nutrisystem suddenly felt a scam to him.

In relation to the previous point, many of the dieters found Nutrisystem customer service really bad.

​The company seems to have no control or too chaotic to handle a large number of cancellation requests, to begin with.

"If I could do zero stars, I would. Their customer service is awful. Once you sign up for the 1st shipment, it's like you have made a pact with the devil and it's very hard to get out of it. If you call to cancel, they will keep you holding for hours. And you can't cancel online," a dieter named Sandra stated.

She added that if you try canceling the first order, Nutrisystem keeps charging $125. That continues until the 3rd order without any response to your cancelation requests.

A dieter named Ellen supported the claim by saying she waited for 20 minutes for having her call answered. Besides, she spent $4,4550 in one year and wanted to stop the membership. But, apparently, she can't.

Like Weight Watchers, the meal plan they provide allows a bit of flexibility to their dieters, especially if there's an uncontrollable eat outs and other events where eating is involved.

Marie Osmond is notable for shedding a lot of weight when she started her Nutrisystem regimen. According to a source, she immediately lost 45 pounds within the first 4 months through following the 28-day meal plan. The same thing happened to Dan Marino losing 22 pounds.

The fact you're lowering the calorie intake as well as the sodium and fat, there's no doubt to lose a lot of weight.

There's science-backed into it so there's no need to ask for more. The thing is that Nutrisystem tries to change your menu into something healthier than you're eating and drinking before.

Aside from that, they don't force you to change everything. You can still eat the food you like but the ingredients used are changed for that matter. 

You don't need to think about what to eat the next day or in the next week because Nutrisystem provides it all for you. 

They will be the one to provide the meals for you and have it delivered right into your home address for around 4 to 10 business days. The meal plans will be good for 28 days. 

Since 2012, Nutrisystem has been an accredited business on the Better Business Bureau records. Not only they earned the accreditation status, but they also got the highest rating of an A+.

Based on my research, there are many opposing thoughts about Nutrisystem as a whole. Besides its effective weight loss program, there are many weight loss counselors seems to have been turned off with the low-paying commissions on their part.

Just so you know, they are the very backbone of the organization. Hence, it’s their right to ask for higher pay to work harder with motivation.

In most cases, the workload is too heavy for such a low monthly income. The fact is also true to non-employees, for instance, the affiliates, without more income streams with the company. 

Although they could earn $65 per referral, that doesn’t mean they could generate more income given the massive number of complaints filed against the company. On the Better Business Bureau alone, there are already 375 complaints within the last few years.

From there, it’s hard to endorse a program with those figures of negative rants. Not to exclude the ones written on Indeed and Glassdoor, where most of the employees shared their sentiments they could never do within the company.
